Stacey Pollards has worked as both a painter and a print-maker. She likes to build up the surfaces of her pieces as if they were monoprints or collagraph plates. The pieces of Japanese paper or drawings may get covered with paint, but they are still an important part of her process. Photographs also play a role— they can be quick snapshots to jog her memory about the values and composition. She likes to walk the line between an accurate representation of what she saw, and a composed interpretation.
