Brooke Borcherding’s recent works in acrylic are a contemporary take on traditional outdoor landscape painting and offer a colorful flair to the everyday scene. I focus on broken color, giving a slight pixelated feel to familiar environments, maintaining a lively sense of dynamic energy. These “deconstructions” aim to shed light on the beauty of ordered chaos.
Brooke is a full time award winning artist working out of Wallingford in Seattle WA.
She began painting in high school 17 years ago and earned a BFA in painting from the University of Oregon in 2010. She considers herself a self-taught landscape painter, gaining knowledge from plein air peers and prolific output. Her unique style evolved from a desire to investigate human perception in aesthetics, and stimulating our human senses with the color and space we see around us.
Over the past 8 years as an exhibiting artist Brooke has most recently been featured in Oct/Nov 2020 issue of Plein Air Magazine for acrylic plein air. In 2019 she was featured in American Art Collector Magazine and in 2016 Southwest Art Magazine selected her as one of the 21 artists under 31 to watch. She was awarded a prestigious prize for best oil/acrylic painting at the 2018 Carmel Plein Air Competition. Brooke's work is nationally and internationally collected and shows in galleries along the West Coast - Washington, California and Oregon. If you live in the Seattle area you may also find her work in various businesses who participate in neighborhood art walks.
