These Four Walls

In November we will be featuring the work of Laura Van Horne and Karen Abel.

Step into “These Four Walls”- an art show that explores the intricate relationships between architecture, community, home and the sense of belonging that dwells within these spaces. This exhibition features a unique collection of minimalist forms of Mixed Media Paintings by Laura Van Horne and Ceramic Houses by Karen Abel. In addition the two artists have done some collaborative wall pieces mixing ceramics, acrylic paint and epoxy resin.

Seattle Arts and Culture Week- Live Painting Event and Musical Performance

Gray Sky Gallery, 320 1st Ave S, is excited to be participating in Seattle Art and Culture Week on Saturday, Sept 14th.
4:30-6:00-Live Art Demo with Encaustic Painting (Laura Van Horne), Acrylic Painting (Heidi Farina), Upcycled Book Collage (Terry Richardson), Rice Paper and Cold Wax Medium Collage (Sherry Ruden), Paper Cut (Girlspit), and Porcelain Sculpture Building (Margaret MacLean).
6:00-6:30 Internationally renowned Seattle Opera musical artists Charles Robert Stephens- Baritone, Nerys Jones- Mezzo Soprano and Steven Luksan- Piano will perform. I feel like this will be a rich cultural experience for everyone who attends.
This is a free event for the public, however RSVP is requested.

The Luminosity Collection by Heidi Farina focuses on the interplay of glowing light with our variable landscapes in Washington state. This April we have a group show featuring Erik Andrew and Kelly Rae Cunningham. In Erik’s “Underpants” series the people and objects are conveyed with remarkable skill both in the humor and the absurdity of the human condition. Figures are exaggerated, bodies and expressions are distorted in ways that manage to simultaneously disturb and amuse; the effect is bizarre, funny and sometimes frightening .Kelly Rae’s work is grounded in experimentation and exploration. Her abstract paintings employ layers of color, worked with palette knives and brushes, whimsical use of dot and line, and energetic brush strokes.
