Please Touch: Together, Breaking Barriers a group show, challenges the traditional boundaries of art appreciation by inviting visitors to engage with artwork through touch. This tactile exhibit is offers a rare and welcoming opportunity to connect directly with art for individuals who rely on touch as their primary way of communicating and experiencing the world (including those who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision). But this experience is not just for visually impaired visitors. Sighted visitors are invited to look beyond the surface and engage in a rich, multi-sensory journey.
Please Touch has called various Seattle venues home for the past 10 years. Now, this exhibition comes to Gray Sky Gallery in Pioneer Square and Fogue Studios and Gallery in Georgetown for the month of October to raise awareness about accessibility for blind and low-vision individuals in the arts while bridging the gap between visual and tactile art experiences. The Please Touch exhibit is breaking down the barriers of traditional galleries to create a truly open space for tactile exploration.
Please join us at Gray Sky Gallery, 320 1st Ave S, Thursday, October 1st from 5-8 pm for the opening reception. All participating artists will be there and happy to speak with you about their work.
